Class of 1959 Last Call


Richard "Dick" Foltin Huebner, 75, departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at home,
surrounded by his family. He was born on February 18, 1936, in Passaic, New Jersey, to William
and Irma Huebner. The day after graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Dick married
Elizabeth "Betty" Anne McGreevey, his wife of 52 years. During Dick's active duty career they
relocated 12 times. He served on seven ships (one DD and six diesel submarines) including command
of the USS Cutlass (SS478), one Bathyscaph and three staffs. Following retirement in 1981, Dick
attended the University of Hawaii's School of Tropical Agriculture and Animal Science. He then
relocated to Magnolia, a small farm outside the town of Gordonsville, Virginia. Most recently, Dick
was a resident of Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to his wife, Betty, Dick is survived by
three children, son Richard Huebner of Charlottesville, Virginia, and his wife, Janice, son John Huebner
of Denver, Colorado, and his wife, Kim; daughter, Tara Humphrey of Richmond, Virginia, and her husband,
Kevin; and six grandchildren, Peri Huebner, Jack Huebner, Madison Montoya, Xavier Montoya, Kaelee
Humphrey and Bryce Humphrey. Dick’s memorial service was held at the Naval Academy Chapel on
February 1, 2012, followed by inurnment in the Columbarium.

Edward W. Gibbons passed away on November 11, 2011 in Santa Barbara, California.
Ed was a member of the 15th Company. Ed served as an infantry officer in the United States
Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre from 1959 to 1964. He is survived by his wife, Deborah
(nee Hamilton) Gibbons, and by his children, Vanessa Rob Gibbons and Christopher Rob
Gibbons (children of Arlene Nesbitt). Funeral Services were held on November 21, 2011.
Committal followed at the USNA Columbarium.

Richard Y. Wisenbaker passed away on August 2, 2011 at Berkshire Medical Center, MA
Dick was a member of the 23rd Company and retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of
service, including two tours in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Erika. A memorial
service was held in Pittsfield, MA, on August 6, 2011.

John E. Nourie died on July 21, 2011 in Portsmouth, VA. Jack was a member of the 14th
Company and retired as a captain in the US Navy. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peg),
three daughters, and three sons. A funeral was held in Portsmouth on July 5, 2011, with burial
to be at a later date at Arlington Natonal Cemetery.

Martin R. Flynn passed away on June 1, 2011 in the VA Hospital, Tampa Bay, FL,
after a lengthy illness. Rut was a member of the 5th Company and served in the U.S. Navy
followed by the Naval Reserve, retiring as a captain. He is survived by his wife, Joan K.
Flynn, of Walnut Creek, CA and two daughters and two sons. Memorial services were held in
St Petersburg Beach on June 4, 2011.

John H. Hoey passed away on May 31, 2011, in Santa Rosa, CA. Jack was a member of
the Fifteenth Company and a retired U.S. Navy captain. He is suvived by his wife, Shirley,
two daughters, and son James Hoey '01. He was interred at Arlington National Cemetery
on July 11, 2011.
